Five Overused Real Estate Phrases By: John Adams

TEASE: Selling real estate is, by design, an exercise in putting forward advantages and minimizing problems. We pretty much expect that when we find a home for sale. But CERTAIN PHRASES are so over-used and over-worked that they have lost all meaning.

Fox5 Real Estate expert JOHN ADAMS guides us through the top five phrases we need to worry about.

Q: John, break this down for us. Why would anyone lie or even exaggerate the features or benefits of a piece of real estate?

A: There are five typical overused phrases that you should avoid

1. Needs TLC: this place is a real dump

2. Priced to sell: this is what the seller wants today

3. Room for a pool: comes with Mr. Turtle Pool

4. Updated: we replaced the faucet aerator in 1982

5. Will not last: you must buy it today (or maybe tomorrow)

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Be totally suspicious of any claims in any advertising. Watch for short claims that actually mean other things, and make sure you satisfy yourself that the property in question actually has the features you want and need.
